A floating home on the west coast of Vancouver Island became the inspiration for a new kind of collective life known as the Raft Islands. Floating atop the barges and structures of obsolete salmon farms, this new settlement on the water became a testing ground for ecological architectures and commoning lifestyles. Searching for an alternative to the conventional suburban house, or west coast cabin, the Raft Island Collective created a new aquatic model for living.
